We know you can prescribe treatments and medicines, but can you prescribe business strategies for your own practice? When thinking about all of the possible business strategies for your practice, there are likely very few ideas you haven’t already considered. You know you need a great website, you need to know who your customers are and what they want, you need to have a team chock-full of A-players…and yet it seems impossible to actually implement everything you know you need to do to be successful.

It’s tough. We know.

The truth is, deciding which business growth tips for your practice you should focus on, and those you should ignore will vary depending on your business goals and patient base. But, we’ve collected some of the best advice we’ve heard so far this year that we think applies to any physician and practice leader.

Focus on Practice Growth.

This article by David Dodge, CEO of CodaKid, described the turning point of his company when they realized they were spread too thin and still struggling to grow. The advice he received was simple – focus on your number one (narrower) customer base. Dodge’s friend and advisor Greg Head calls this turning point the scaling point. “Your scaling point defines you as the best in your market at something important for someone specific. To hit your scaling point, you have to commit to this narrower segment, and make important changes to make this happen.”

Speak Up.

When we last wrote about business growth strategies, we mentioned the importance of including speaking events as part of your lead generation strategy. The idea follows the same basic principles you probably already know – find your patients and meet them where they are. If your ideal patient is one who would likely attend a certain conference or meeting, you should be there. The words we mentioned from Money Journal still ring true today. “As a marketer, developing, or at least conveying, authority is absolutely essential to your success at generating leads and increasing conversions. And whenever you are presented as an authority within your niche through a speaking engagement, people will have a much more positive response to what you have to say and what you are selling.” If you’re not sure where to start, here’s a great list of conferences to help you begin your search!

Establish Yourself As The Authority.

If you’ve figured out how to drill down your ideal patient and customer base, and you’ve gathered enough data to know more about who they are and what they’re interested in, it’s time to write your book. Seriously. Write the book! One of the absolute best business strategies for ANY physician is to author a book on the subject. And that’s why we’re here – to help you write that book quickly and efficiently, saving your time and establishing your credibility in a way that no marketing scheme can.

Our authors – the leading physicians just like yourself – tell us they wish they hadn’t waited so long to get started. Meet some of them, here.
